How does the virtual dog fence work?
TheVirtual Dog Fence Training System is an invisible dog fence that has three components: a transmitter, a spray collar, and an antenna (buried wired around established perimeter). The transmitter is plugged into a regular household 120 AC power outlet. It generates a low frequency radio signal that is transmitted through the buried antenna. As your dog approaches the buried antenna, the spray receiver collar will pick up the low frequency signal. The collar will first emit a warning sound to let your dog know that it has reached the limit. Should it continue on, your dog will receive a brisk spray of citronella.

What is included in this underground dog fence kit?
Each kit contains: a transmitter, a spray collar, a 6.0 volt battery, a citronella refill, 500 feet (150 meters) of antenna wire, 50 flags, an instruction video, and an instruction booklet.
How much area can be enclosed by the virtual fence?
The transmitter will enclose up to 25 acres. (Additional flags and wire required)
How deep do you have to bury the wire?
1 to 2 inches (3 to 8 cm.)
How long does it take to install the fence?
Allow 2 to 3 hours for a 500 ft. fence. It depends on the layout, soil conditions, tools, etc. A typical installation can be completed in one afternoon.
What other items do I need for installation of the virtual dog fence?
Straight edged spade, wire stripping pliers, and electrical tape.
Can More than one dog use the virtual fence at a time?
Yes, simply place another spray receiver collar on the other dogs. (sold separately)
Is there any training involved?
The Virtual Dog Fence is not a solid barrier. As with any electric dog fence, it will not contain your pet without proper training. The fourteen day training period is actually a lot of fun. Training takes about 10 to 15 minutes a day. With the aid of the flags, you will train your dog to recognize his designated area. Some additional training is recommended on an ongoing basis for better long term results.
Can the spray be harmful for my dog or family?
The spray solution has found to be extremely safe.Its ozone friendly propellent is the same inert product used in asthma pumps for humans. The citronella essence is a natural essential oil that has been used in many human, animal, and environmental applications for thousands of years. Although it can cause discomfort in certain individuals with allergies to citronella, it is considered non-toxic, especially at the very low levels given off by the collar. Each spray contains less than 10% citronellla.
Can the spray harm my dogs eyes?
It should be noted that the citronella solution is buffered to minimize any discomfort should it get into the eyes. However, as with any aerosol product, the spray should not be aimed into the eyes. The collar, being worn on the neck, is directed at the your dog's snout. This makes it a safe distance from your dogs eyes since the spray dissipates very quickly.
Can my dog become accustomed to the spray?
While this is is possible, it has only been found to occur in a few cases. When using positive reinforcement as part of the training, the likelihood of this happening is less.
How large is the receiver?
The unit weighs 2.14 oz. (60gm) and is 1.9 X 1.3 X 1.4 inches (4.8 cm X3.3 cm X 3.5 cm)
Is my dog to small or too large to use the spray receiver collar?
Most dogs can use the spray receiver collar. if your dog is one of the smaller breeds (under 6 lb.), it might tire of wearing the spray receiver collar for prolonged periods.
Does the virtual dog fence come with a warranty?
This product comes with a one year warranty on parts and labor for any defects, provided the warranty card is completed and returned at the time of purchase.
